Thanksgiving Cross Country Classic - November 22, 2007
Posted: November 23, 2007

Running: Race, 5k, Fun run..

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Annual Thanksgiving Cross Country Classic is always an event to attend. Whether you are a participant, volunteer or family cheerleader, this event and the course it is run on is both challenging and familiar. If you had a hard time sleeping or were woke up in the early morning by the thunder and lightning, you may have thought that this would be a wet and wild ride. The clouds cleared and what moisture fell soon dried up and it turned into the perfect race condition day. The 1.5 mile fun run is perfect for beginning runners and those who have to leave right away to get to cooking the Thanksgiving dinner. This year saw many young competative finishers in the 1.5 mile run. The very exciting women's and men's 5k races got off to a very fast pace with both events finishing with runners who set new course records. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped this event come together, your help is very appreciated! A big thanks to Martin and Sharon as well, who put countless hours in preparing for this race. Many thanks to the Tucson Tri Girls and The Running Group who also showed up in force to help volunteer as well as Greg Wenneborg for the speedy timing results! Speaking of results, they can be found at http://www.azroadrunners.org/events/thanks/results/07.html
